Today In Manufactured News...

Dwyane Wade doesn't think LeBron James is quite on Michael Jordan's level yet.

From an ESPN write-up that currently tops their news section:
"I don't know if (James) has the ability to surpass (Jordan) or not," Wade told on Thursday during a promotional event for his Wade's World Foundation. "That's yet to be seen. My version as LeBron being on par with Michael is this: They're both on the golf course. Michael's on the 18th hole. LeBron is somewhere on like the fourth hole. He's got a long way to go, but he's on par to get to the 18th hole....
Michael Jordan is the greatest player of all time, that's who everyone shoots for. So it's going to be hard to surpass that."

Seriously, ESPN? This is a story? Did Tim Tebow take a nap and you had to just shit something out? Actually, per Deadspin, ESPN spent a lot of time debating whether it was impressive that Tim Tebow did something that would only be moderately impressive for every other quarterback in the league. And I guess Phelps, Tiger and A-Rod must have had slow days too? The reason I'm so annoyed by this story is because it has no excuse to exist. Because, wait for it...

LITERALLY NO ONE THINKS LEBRON JAMES IS AS GOOD AS MICHAEL JORDAN. Just about everybody will tell you he's the best player in the league, and the burgeoning support for Kevin Durant was quashed pretty quickly these last Finals, but no one in their right mind would put LeBron on Jordan's level. Objectively, it's not a comparison. So shut up everybody. Just shut up.

As Dwyane Wade says and just about everyone other than Skip Bayless' borderline sociopathic mind believes, Jordan is the best player ever. LeBron is not. So this is not a story. Wade's not calling out his teammate. Wade's not doing anything. Here's how the headline should read:

Teammate Says Other Teammate is Great but Not as Great as Greatest Ever.

I have another one.
