2nd Annual Advanced Stat All-Stars

It's now time for me to tell you what the REAL All-Star teams should be in this year. I outlined my methodology last year and I'm going to be doing it the same way this year. I'll also throw in pitchers this year, 2 starters and 2 relievers. Let's just dive right in, okay?

Jed Lowrie and Josh Donaldson - Seattle Mariners v Oakland Athletics

American League

Catcher: Joe Mauer, Jason Castro

First base: Chris Davis, Edwin Encarnacion

Second base: Jason Kipnis, Dustin Pedroia

Third base: Miguel Cabrera, Josh Donaldson (easily the most crowded position in the AL)

Shortstop: Jed Lowrie, Jhonny Peralta

Left field: Alex Gordon

Center field: Mike Trout

Right field: Jose Bautista

Other outfielders: Nelson Cruz, Jacoby Ellsbury, Colby Rasmus

Designated Hitter: David Ortiz

Others: Adrian Beltre, Robinson Cano, Evan Longoria, Manny Machado, Kyle Seager

Starting pitchers: Max Scherzer (actually), Felix Hernandez

Relief pitchers: Jesse Crain, Greg Holland

National League

Catcher: Buster Posey, Yadier Molina

First base: Paul Goldschmidt, Joey Votto

Second base: Marco Scutaro, Brandon Phillips

Third base: David Wright, Pedro Alvarez

Shortstop: Jean Segura, Everth Cabrera

Left Field: Carlos Gonzalez

Center Field: Carlos Gomez

Right Field: Michael Cuddyer

Other outfielders: Andrew McCutchen, Dexter Fowler, Shin-Soo Choo

Others: Matt Carpenter, Ian Desmond, Michael Cuddyer, Troy Tulowitzki, Sterling Marte, YASIEL PUIG PUIG PUIG PUIG PUIG (okay not really, but kinda)

Starting pitchers: Adam Wainwright, Matt Harvey

Relief pitchers: Jason Grilli, and I cannot fucking believe I'm saying this, but Mark Melancon

So there are your All-Star teams, as I see them. Obviously, the actual teams will be bigger with many more pitchers, but those are the guys who really all should be recognized as All-Stars.

Biggest snubs: Josh Donaldson, Greg Holland, Dexter Fowler, Mark Melancon, Ian Desmond
Biggest mistakes on the actual All-Star teams: J.J. Hardy, Adam Jones, Prince Fielder, Bryce Harper

All right, well...there it is. Argue away.
